Buckshot Jones

buckshot-jones.jpg

Birthdate and Place: July 23, 1970
Height and Weight: 5'6 135 lbs
Career Highlights: 2 Busch wins in his #00 - ran with dodge on return to Cup with Petty Enterprises in 2001 driving the #44 Georgia Pacific Dodge.
Why He's My Favorite: I like Buckshot more than any other driver because he doesnt take crap from anyone. If he had a problem with someone his crew always stood behind him, and if he was getting accused of wrecking people, his crew stood behind him then too. No matter what he had the support of his father and his crew and thats very important in a sport where sometimes the only friends you have are the ones you brought with you to the track that night. He also showed that he had what it took to run with the best. He ran just as good as Dale Jr. in 1998 he just had more DNFs and kept him from a championship. Not to mention he never backed down to a rivalry started by Randy Lajoie. Also Buckshot stepping down from the sport in 2002, after he was jipped by Petty he took a couple of races for Michael Waltrip and in 2003 ran a couple Cup races and infact led at Talladega for Michael Waltrip's team, and he ran at the Pepsi 400 under the lights 4th of July Weekend for James Finch and his #09 Miccosukee Indian Gaming Dodge and placed 17th. In 2004 he ran two races for James again except in his #1 Yellow Dodge in the Busch series. After a firey wreck and probably the scariest moment I remember while watching Buckshot race he got and into an ambulance but not before lying in the grass, and I think while he lay there, he probably realized why he attempted to leave the sport in 2002. He had a wife and young kids at home he cared about more than racing and a college degree, he knew he didnt have to race, now im torn because as a fan Im upset he doesnt race anymore, but as a person, I respect him not taking slow cars just to be at the track, and risking his life every weekend for a chance to run 30th. Buckshot Jones is my hero in racing, and life, and I wish him the best in whatever he pursues racing and otherwise for years to come.

Birthdate and Place: 5/04/66 Meridian,ID
Height and Weight: 6 ft 172 lbs
Career Highlights: 2 Craftsman Truck wins
Why He's My Favorite: Randy is my favorite because he is a man that is just the average guy. He has the same struggles some people do every day, he struggled in faith. He knew a God existed but didn't feel he was good enough to go to church. On the track he showed he had some talent, he took midpack cars/trucks and put them in the top 10. Randy stepped away from the sport in 2002 and I have no information on what happend to him, his website is closed and there is no information that I can find. He resides in Meridian, Idaho.

Some of my other favorite drivers include...

Dan Shaver #49 Petro Express Chevrolet (ARCA)

Jimmy Kitchens (Dale Earnhardt Jrs Spotter, former driver)
Ken Alexander (former driver and car owner - nothing since 2003)
